Possible staycation destinations for motorhome insurance customers

Many people around the UK may be taking out short term motor home insurance over coming weeks and months in order to head off on holiday. Many of these temporary motor home insurance customers will remain in Britain, taking so-called ‘staycations’, rather than heading abroad.

Offering tips about some of this year’s best locations and events for holidaymakers, travel writer Ben Hatch and dealchecker.co.uk recently launched a guide to unconventional events, destinations and activities this summer.

The writer spent five months travelling to every town in Britain with his wife and two young children in preparation for the guide and many of his best picks are family-friendly places.

One of Mr Hatch’s top selections is Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, which is not far from Newcastle and may be easily accessible for many of those with short term motor home insurance. About this, he said: “[It] is the setting for the Quidditch game in the Harry Potter movies and also doubled for Hogwarts itself. There are Potter-themed tours, a fantastic knights’ quest and dressing up for kids.”

Other highlights in the guide include dolphin spotting in the far north of Scotland. Commenting on Chanonry Point in Fortrose, Mr Hatch said: “This spit of land extending into the Moray Firth is one of the best dolphin-watching spots in Europe. You can see from the shoreline and there are also Ecoventure boat tours. On a good clear day you can witness a pod of 130 bottlenose dolphins and occasionally seals, porpoises and minke whales.”

He also picked the World Alternative Games in Wales, in which contestants will test their skills in events such as bog snorkelling and penny farthing races. This is due to take place from August 17th until September 2nd in Llanwrtyd Wells.

By doing their research before setting off on summer breaks, temporary motor home insurance customers should be able to ensure they are happy with their choice of destination.
