When selling a home, there are a lot of things that need to be done. From the time it takes to find estate agents, to the time it takes to finally exchange contracts, many obstacles need to be overcome. A major one of these is the viewing process, and there are certain ways in which home sellers can make their home more attractive to buyers.
It is important that a home is attractive to as many people as possible to help boost its marketability and maintain or even lift the final sale price. Quite apart from redecoration and refurnishing though, such widespread appeal can be achieved with little more than making things look clean and tidy before each viewing.
Any front garden or area should be tidied, including presenting any waste bins that are on show in their best possible light, and keeping lawns mowed. The entrance or hallway should be left free of clutter, whilst each room should be given a quick going over with the duster and vacuum.
Such good first impressions will get things off to a great start, but this could easily be undone. If there are pets and children at home, it is best that these be looked after at the home of a neighbour, relative or friend for example. Ideally though, the seller should not actually be in the home at all when a viewing is scheduled.
The best estate agents will conduct viewings themselves, and should give plenty of notice about them so arrangements can be made. It is possible that a potential buyer will want to meet the vendor at a second viewing, in order to ask questions, though the agent should brief the seller before hand.
Selecting the best local estate agents is not easy, which is where Meet My Agent comes in. A site which allows home sellers and landlords to give their own opinions on agents for others to learn from, we help home selling get off to the best possible start.
