Michel Herbelin watches is a brand that is not as well known as some others. However, they still have a lot of fans across all age groups. In some families, their watches have been given as gifts for several generations.
The History of Michel Herbelin Watches
The firm that makes Michel Herbelin watches was set up in 1947, in Charquemont, France by Jean-Claude Herbelin. From the start, they concentrated on producing high quality watches. They worked closely with specialist labs in the region to provide the market with technically sophisticated watches, which were still elegant and fashionable. For the most part, they sold their watches locally and it was not until 1965 that they began to brand themselves competitively.
In 1972, when the son of the founder took over things changed and the brand really took off. He decided to bring modern marketing techniques to this small family firm. His approach was an almost immediate success.
Over the years, the company has grown and today they are recognised internationally for their high quality watches. Their innovative approach to watch design is what they are best known for. They were one of the first watch producers to come up with ultra slim watches. They were also one of the first firms to make and market wire bangle watches, which were particularly popular in the 1980s. Despite a great deal of pressure the company has managed to remain independent and is still family-owned.
In France, they are a particularly popular brand. One in four watches sold, within the price bracket they compete in, is made by Michel Herbelin. Today, you can buy there beautiful watches in more than 5O countries.
