Responding to the findings, Elaine Ferguson, client relationship manager at OCG’s Resource Centre, said that the country has become more attractive in the eyes of investors. She added that it is now commanding the second greatest share of the enquiries the firm processes.
The expert remarked: “Spain has suddenly begun to take off again and is now commanding the second largest share out of thousands of enquiries coming from people interested in buying overseas.”
She also noted that France is a popular target for those keen to engage in property investment. Indeed, over the last three months, enquiries about opportunities in the country rose by 87 per cent.
Also commenting on the figures, OGC editor Richard Way said: “Budgets remain fundamental and are at the top of people’s agenda, so a country with easy and cheap access from the UK holds a lot of appeal.
“France has remained popular throughout the world recession, but it is worth noting the steady rise over the last quarter of people wanting to buy in Spain. The country has much to offer including good weather, friendly people and easy access.”
