By making the most of video walls and other audio visual solutions, people can help ensure their exhibitions look the part and one museum in Paris is currently taking advantage of such technology for precisely this purpose.
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which is located on 107 rue de Rivoli in the French capital, is running a Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs exhibition and to help capture the imaginations of visitors, organisers have included a video wall, wallpaper.com points out.
Commenting on the installation, the news source states: “The show offers an in-depth look into the fashion industry during Vuitton’s 19th century industrialisation and Jacobs’ 21st century globalisation. Cleverly, it makes use of the museum’s 19th century fashion and accessory collection, which bolsters the display of Louis Vuitton’s trunks on the first floor.”
It adds that the second floor features, among other things, a “witty video wall display” that provides visitors with a glimpse of what makes Marc Jacobs tick. It showcases photographs and extracts of films selected by the American fashion designer.
Other audio visual solutions utilised in the exhibition include a ‘peep show’ room that has every single video from all the Vuitton fashion shows. There are also clips of Marc Jacobs taking his signature finale bow at the end of each of his shows.
Meanwhile, it is not only the displays themselves that capture the imaginations of visitors at the Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs exhibition, wallpaper.com notes. It says: “The captions are equally attention-grabbing, with titles such as ‘Oh! Gram’, ‘From Hair to Eternity’ and ‘Bluey Vuitton’.”
The Musée des Arts Décoratifs is located in the Louvre museum’s western wing and it was founded in 1905 by members of the Union des Arts Décoratifs. Since this time, the exhibitions have changed considerably in nature. After all, video walls and other such advanced solutions would have been beyond the wildest dreams of its founders.
