Popularity of tango highlighted by Delhi festival

More and more people are taking tango classes London. The activity can be great for couples or singles and it is a good way for individuals to stay active.

The dance, which originated in Argentina and Uruguay, has caught the public’s imagination in Britain and, as a recent festival showed, consumers elsewhere around the globe are also embracing it.

An article in the Daily Mail pointed out that the second annual International Tango Festival took place in Delhi last month. Host of the extravaganza was banker Rakesh Borar, who is better known for offering stock market advice on television.

The celebration of tango in the Indian capital lasted for three days from November 23rd to 25th and it included 12 workshops led by renowned teachers.

Commenting on the event, Mr Borar stated: “This year’s festival has a bigger format and includes workshops by four international dancers – Rod Relucio and his partner Jenny from the US and Damian Thompson and his partner Zannica from Australia. During the day we’ll have workshops and by night we will party at the milongas.”

The milongas provide people with chance to strut their stuff on the dance floor.

As well as locals from Delhi, the gathering attracted individuals from Mumbai, the UK and the US, among other places. Some of those taking part may have benefited from tango lessons London.

Commenting on the participants, Mr Borar said: “We have about 80 dancers, from 30-year-olds to 65-year-olds, and people from all walks of life.”

There are lots of different types of class available in London and elsewhere around the UK and so people generally find it easy to come across versions that suit their needs and preferences. Often, they find that attending the classes boosts their social lives as well as enhancing their skills on the dance floor.
