Playgrounds are supposed to be fun. However, fun can only be had if you follow the rules. Stop following the rules and somebody is bound to get hurt. Whether it is emotionally or physically, this is simply not acceptable. Hence, every playground should have a bunch of rules to make sure everybody stays safe and is able to have fun, fun, fun!
Being Nice
The first and most important rule is to be nice on the playground surfaces and beyond. So, don’t push anybody of any of the equipment, which is a big no-no. Secondly, be kind to other people and don’t show off that you can climb higher, swing faster or jump further. Kids of all ages go to the playground and nobody likes a show off. Thirdly, if you see someone is in trouble, be a playground buddy and go help them out. Kindness will take you very far in life and you may as well start by learning about it in the playground.
Staying Safe
It is also very important to keep your personal safety and that of your fellow players in mind. So, don’t use any of the equipment if it is wet. In other words, if your parent suggests a trip to the playground after a heavy rainfall, just tell them no. Next, make sure you don’t run on the playground either. You can’t pay proper attention when running on playground surfaces and you may bump into things or other people. Make sure you use the equipment for its intended use. So, don’t go running up the slide for instance, even if that is a whole lot of fun. Lastly, make sure you wear the right footwear so you don’t hurt your feet or increase your risk of slipping.
Leaving the Playground for Others to Enjoy
Last but certainly not least, you have to remember that you don’t own the playground. So, you have to leave it nice for the next person to come and play on it. Make sure you pick up all your litter, for instance. Also, don’t get involved in graffiti, nobody wants to know that you were there and nobody wants to scrape their hands on the chipped paint where you have scratched your tag in.
A lot of thought has gone into making adequate playground surfaces by Pentagon Sport, in playgrounds. Respect that and keep it tidy.
