Almost as soon as the Nissan Juke was introduced in 2010 people realised it was a bit different. It looked radically different and was the first true min-crossover vehicle. Not surprisingly, the reaction was mixed. Some people loved it the first time they saw it others loathed it the moment they saw it they just thought it was ugly. However, over time, the Juke has grown on most people and today it is actually quite a popular car. Something that often happens to cars that look radically different. Just look at the Ford Scorpio, with its jelly mould exterior and bulging headlights it was not exactly pretty. However, in time it became affectingly known as the frog and today is already considered a classic car.
New Versions of the Nissan Juke
Despite only being on the market for two years, there have already been two new variations of the Nissan Juke. The Nissan Juke Nismo was unveiled at the Le Mans 24 Hours held in June 2012. It was not a lot different from the concept version, which had previously been reviewed at the Geneva motor show. The car will be made in Sunderland and is due for launch in early 2013 for the UK market. It is expected to appeal to younger drivers with its flared body kit and 18-inch alloy wheels. Sales are expected to be strong for this high end Juke.
The other incarnation of the Nissan Juke is the Juke R, which is fitted with the 3.8 VR engine found in the Nissan GT-R. Nissan came up with the car for the racetrack, but put it into production as well. An unusual step, which has yet to pay off because sales are not materialising yet. However, the fact that the car is so rare is part of its appeal, so Nissan plan to continue to build them to order.
Nissan Juke Awards
The Nissan Juke has already attracted several awards. It is expected to accrue more in the future. It even appears in the Guinness Book of Records for being driven on two wheels by the stunt-driver Terry Grant for 2 minutes 55 seconds.
