When firms need to drum up custom, they often use flyers. By handing out promotional material like this, they stand to attract more customers. Retailers are no exception and demand for flyer printing services may be particularly high among these organisations at present.
Figures produced by the Insolvency Service indicate that many enterprises operating in this sector are struggling. According to the organisation, the number of retailers that entered into administration during the second quarter of this year was up by 37 per cent compared with the same three-month period in 2011.
In total, 52 retailers went into administration between April and June this year. This compared with 38 during the second quarter of last year.
Responding to the findings, UK Head of Restructuring at KPMG Richard Fleming said: “This figure is a damning indication of how retail health has declined over the last 12 months. The sector remains under significant pressure from reduced consumer spending, rising overheads and all round low confidence. “
He added that many firms in the industry have been “slashing prices†in a bid to encourage consumers to buy their goods. However, while price cutting can be a “short-term survival strategyâ€, it does not tackle the underlying problems facing the sector, Mr Fleming went on to claim.
When faced with such tough market conditions, many bosses try to invigorate their marketing efforts and a cheap and often effective way of doing so involves handing out flyers.
These days, managers generally find it easy to source flyer printing services and as long as they know where to look, the items can be inexpensive. As long as they think carefully about what they add to the flyers, they may be able to bolster custom levels by handing them out.
With no immediate sign of the economy experiencing huge improvements, savvy marketing tactics may help to make the difference between success and failure for some organisations.
