The Motability scheme is relatively easy to understand. You simply exchange some of your weekly benefit, certain benefits need to be claimed to qualify of course, and a car of your choice could be yours in a matter of weeks. You may not even drive, but you need a car to get around. Well that’s easy as well because all you have to do is nominate your carer or family member to drive the car on your behalf.
It doesn’t even have to be car that you need. Wheelchairs and scooters come under the Motability umbrella as well. You may require a small scooters for getting around a housing complex for example, or a larger more rugged ones are available should you require to go on a shopping trip or visit to the doctors. Even motorised wheelchairs come under the Motability scheme.
Whatever your choice of vehicle is it will be fully serviced and maintained during your three year contract. When your contract ends you can buy the car with a final payment if you wish, but you could just take out a new deal and receive another brand new car.
Many cars on the Motability scheme can be yours with no advance payments being made. Check with your local dealer to see what cars currently come with no advanced payments you will be pleasantly surprised as to what is actually available. You can choose a petrol or diesel car, manual or automatic. Hatchbacks, saloons, people carriers, 3 door and 5 door vehicles are available.
